The city of Bangalore has numerous tourist attractions to keep its visitors busy. Right from beautiful gardens to serene lake to magnificent palaces, the city offers a wide variety to those who are planning to go on Bangalore sightseeing tours. Check out the information given below before going on a tour to Bengalooru, India.

If you only have a limited amount of time in the city, you may go for either (1) The half-day or full-day city tours offered by KSTDC, the government tourist office, are cheap and cover the city's major attractions with English speaking guides. or (2) The full-day tour, called Bangalore Rounds, organised by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, is conducted in an air-conditioned bus and covers most important tourist spots in the city. It is advisable to book seats the previous day by dialling 080-12667. The tour costs Rs.250.
Typically, the city tours do NOT include entry fees into the attractions.

2. North Bangalore, Shivaji Nagar and surrounding Areas



Bangalore Palace (k), Chitrakala Parishat (m), Fun World, Gandhi Bhavan (l), Sankey Tank, Hebbal Lake, New Bangalore BIAL Airport etc are located in North Bangalore. Commercial Street, Safina Plaza, Cunningham Road, Russel Market, Bangalore St. Mary's Cathedral (n) etc are located in Shivaji Nagar Area.

  • k) Bangalore Palace - Bangalore Palace is Located in the Palace Grounds (close to Mekhri Circle). Inspired by Windsor Castle of London King Chamaraja Wodeyar built Bangalore Palace in the year 1887. With magnificient looking Fortified towers, Gothic windows, battlements and turrets, Bangalore Palace was mainly constructed of wood. There are many splendid wood carvings and paintings. One of the walls of the Durbar Hall has a set of windows that are decorated with stained glass.


  • l) Gandhi Bhavan Bangalore - Located on Kumara Krupa Road, Bangalore Gandhi Bhavan was set up with the intention of promoting teachings of Mahathma Gandhi.

  • m) Chitrakala Parishat - A treasure house of Karnataka's classical art and has a collection of traditional paintings and leather puppets.

  • n) St.Mary's Basilica - Built in 1882 by the French missionary, Abbe Dubois located in Shivaji Nagar.

  • o) Commercial Street- Close to Shivaji Nagar Russel Market and not far from M.G. Road area. Safina Plaza is a shopping Mall located very close to it. Ulsoor Lake also is closer to Commercial Street. This is one of the older Shopping area in Bangalore, compared to Fab Malls and Total Malls.

  • p) Fun World - Fun World is an Amusement Park inside Bangalore city, situated at the Palace Grounds.

  • q) Palace Grounds - Exhibition Center - Regularly Exhibitions are conducted here. Except in the last one, Bangalore IT exhibitions were conducted here. Bangalore Book Festival, ICE (International Consumer Expo) the Indian Consumer Exhibition are conducted at Palace Grounds.

  • r) Russel Market Area - Close to Shivaji Nagar Russel Market and St. Mary's Basicllica. It will be a unique experience to visit this local Market where you can get most of the Indian items. If you want to stay long term in Bangalore, you may consider buying some of the cane furniture or kitchenware from the are next to Russel Market.

Bangalore Planetarium (j), Bangalore Palace (k), Shivaji Nagar Russel Market Area, Commercial Street, Funworld etc can be visited on the same day, as they are situated in one side of the Bangalore City.
